OpenLoad 2.0 Offers Simple, Cost-Effective Alternative to High-Priced Equipment & Software Newark, New Jersey - January 10, 2002
Donald Doane, Founder and CEO of OpenDemand Systems, emphasized the importance of load / stress testing and pointed out that, while critical to ensuring performance and scalability, testing is largely perceived to be costly and difficult. Doane said that OpenLoad 2.0 was designed to resolve such issues and provide a simple yet comprehensive solution. "Developers must test early and often to ensure that they are delivering a stable and useable business solution," said Doane. "However, until OpenLoad 2.0, that task was a difficult and expensive chore. Now, with our new product, developers and businesses alike can easily load test their sites via a web-based application that stimulates virtual users and provides real-time results," continued Doane. "Simply put, this product will enable the industry as a whole to operate more efficiently, cost-effectively and proactively." OpenLoad 2.0 is a completely browser-based application that simulates Web users and instantly generates results on-line, graphically and in real-time. The product can perform multi-user tests that model how systems would work in real world conditions. OpenDemand's newest product is the first testing solution to support recording from within the user's native browser, which enables it to capture all of the requested objects within a page and visually map out the parent-child relationship amongst the various components that makeup a given page view request. This allows for a page-centric rather than transactional approach to load testing, which provides for results that are more reflective of how real-world users experience site performance. The tool also has the ability to automatically identify the type of object requested and provide detailed views of requested header information to allow for the verification and debugging of the raw HTTP exchange. The OpenLoad 2.0 product touts ease-of-use, superior analysis, seamless scalability and remote load-testing options. The product's automated test configuration eliminates scripting by providing menu driven options that allow users to run highly configurable data driven load tests without having to invest time in learning another programming language or maintaining legacy test scripts. The reporting features provide real-time and historical performance data breakdowns using regression and root-cause analysis. It is the first tool that is capable of determining server scalability in real time; providing users with a graphical view of when their server can no longer adequately support the imposed load. OpenLoad 2.0 is designed to seamlessly scale to growing demands by allowing for simulations of tests with hundreds or thousands of users, all of which are generated from a single appliance. It is also available as a hosted solution to allow users to test from outside the firewall to uncover issues with supporting web infrastructure such as routers, firewalls, proxies and load balancing and caching agents. "The majority of performance issues are caused by poor design or coding implementations," said Doane. "Through load testing, such issues can be identified early on before they become too costly to resolve." "With OpenLoad 2.0, developers can now employ a cost effective solution to prevent poor performance in the future while ensuring that sites are fast, scalable and reliable under load," continued Doane. "Finally, our industry can turn to a viable load testing solution that won't be cost prohibitive. Deploying OpenLoad 2.0 will allow sites to improve site functionality and reliability before they even leave the gate, which means that they will perform better and save money overall" concluded Doane.
